Yoshi’s probably has the widest selection of noodle dishes of any of the Japanese restaurants in Columbus. There are also some good grilled squid and fish dishes (look for shio/salt grilled) and I like the green beans with sesame. We do not recommend the yakitori.

My usual dining companion and I tried the Char kway teow mee, Bak kut teh & Singapore laksa. Each was very good, but I thought portions were going to be a little larger. Bak kut teh was the highlight of the meal, followed closely by the noodle dish with all its smoking wok goodness. None of the entrees contained much spicy heat, unfortunately. Also had a couple cups of the chrysanthemum tea…unique flavor (not too sweet) and very recommended.

I had the Belcan rice a couple months ago and was wondering about that spice level; its just when I go by myself, folks are a little incredulous that I want it just like they eat it. Will be going back soon to try some of the dishes in the article.

We had a great American-style dinner there this winter. Our daughter had great sushi and we enjoyed the soba and ramen soups. Thanks for the tips on some things we should ask for upon our return.

I am so glad that you tried Belle’s bread. I heard that they actually even import some ingredients from Japan. I encounter some Americans but they try only “safe” or “familiar” stuff. Hope your readers will visit this place and show their guts.
